Description: A very good pair of Old Sheffield Plate entree dishes and warmers. Each with two scroll handles,raised on four shell cast feet.Inside each cover is a separate serving dish and warming dish and both can be removed to reveal a hot water base. Each cover is engraved with double armorials with the motto: spe meliore vehor- I am borne along by a better hope. Family of Bogle, Ayreshire, Scotland. Circa 1820.
