A superb example of classic urn form raised on a gilded square base, and with gilded mask handles. To the front is a finely panted panel of flowers reserved on a deep blue ground with continuous neoclassical gilded ornament..The painting is typical of Thomas Steel who was famous for his fruit and flowers, first at Derby and then at Minton where he worked from about 1832 until his death in 1850.
