A Large and Rare Spode Dessert Basket from the Prince Regent Service
Circa 1816–1820
A magnificent dessert basket from the celebrated Prince Regent Service, featuring a finely modelled flared and pierced body with richly gilded decoration. The waisted centre is encircled by a continuous painted band of leaves and berries, while the exterior is further embellished with a garlanded painted crown above the intertwined initials P and R, signifying its association with the Prince Regent, later King George IV.
Marked SPODE, this impressive basket is an outstanding example of the factory's finest Regency production, combining elegant form with exceptional craftsmanship and richly ornamented decoration.
