A fine Old Sheffield Plate tea urn by Matthew Boulton, embodying the opulent taste of the Regency period. Of impressive scale and classical form, it is richly decorated with gadrooned borders, fluted detailing, and lavish cast foliate and shell ornament, all raised on finely modelled lion's paw feet.
The urn retains its original internal container for a hot stone, used to keep the water at the correct temperature for serving tea.
