A Fine & Unusual George III Pagoda Lidded Wine Cooler

Faded Mahogany, Circa 1780

An exceptional George III portable pedestal wine cooler in faded mahogany, finely coopered and bound with brass. The body is fitted with a low brass tap for draining melted ice, combining practicality with elegant craftsmanship.

Its most distinctive feature is the beautifully proportioned pagoda-form hinged lid, enriched with finely carved fluting and surmounted by a carved pineapple finial—a traditional 18th-century symbol of hospitality and abundance.

A rare and highly decorative example, displaying outstanding originality and an unusual architectural form.
