Description:
A Fine Barr, Flight & Barr, Worcester Porcelain Vase Circa 1804–1813
An impressive vase, the flared rim with an inner band of gilt marbled roundels, the body richly ornamented with raised gilt bands and white “pearl”-beaded collars. Applied at either side with elaborate gilt handles formed as winged eagles entwined with serpents.
The body centred with a superb gilt-framed panel of brightly painted flowers in full polychrome, reserved against a deep claret ground. Raised on a circular foot and square plinth base, with finely gilt edges and dotted ornament.
This striking vase exemplifies the richly decorative and technically accomplished wares produced by the Flight & Barr Worcester factory during the early 19th century. The bold use of colour, elaborate gilding, and sculptural handles reflects the influence of the Empire and Regency taste, while the finely painted floral panel demonstrates the high level of artistry achieved at the factory during its period of royal patronage.
Impressed crown and BFB to the underside. Height: 4.75in
