Description:
A FINE FLIGHT BARR & BARR WORCESTER PORCELAIN MINIATURE VASE, CIRCA 1815. This finely modelled miniature vase is raised on three richly gilded lion’s paw feet set upon a marbled and gilt triform base. The body is encircled by beaded white “pearl” bands and finished in a vibrant pink ground, reserved with delicately executed gilt neoclassical ornament. The inner rim is enriched with a continuous trailing gilt harebell band. The principal reserve is painted in full colour with a named view of Binstead Cottage, Isle of Wight, a subject in keeping with the early 19th-century fashion for British topographical scenes inspired by the Picturesque movement. Miniature vases of this type were intended as cabinet pieces, combining technical refinement with decorative elegance on an intimate scale. The underside retains full maker’s marks for Flight, Barr & Barr, confirming its manufacture & Royal patronage during this celebrated period of Worcester production. Height: 3.5in.
