Description:

A SET OF SIX CHAMBERLAINS WORCESTER PORCELAIN ARMORIAL DESSERT PLATES, CIRCA 1815. Enamelled in polychrome and gilt with the Arms of the Littledale Family on a gilt vermiculi ground. The arms are those of Littledale of Bunbury, Cheshire impaling Molyneux within scrolling foliate escutcheons surmounted by helmets and crests and gilt dentil borders. Diam: 15 inches. Iron red script marks Chamberlains Worcester.

Note: Thomas Littledale (1772-1847) of Highfield House, West Derby, was Bailiff of Liverpool in 1825 and Mayor of Liverpool from 1826-27. He married Anne Molyneux (1787-1825) daughter of Thomas Molyneux of Newsham House, West Derby, on 15 May 1815, and this part-service was probably commissioned to commemorate their union.
