AN IMPRESSIVE LARGE FLIGHT BARR & BARR WORCESTER PORCELAIN “ETRUSCAN” VASE PAINTED BY GEORGE DAVIS, CIRCA 1815.

Having twin high volute handles with foliate moulding and applied white pearls and raised on a gilt and bronzed square foot. The body with a superb wide continuous full colour painted scene by the celebrated bird painter George Davis, of exquisitely painted exotic birds. Reserved upon a deep claret ground.

George Davis, worked at Flights until 1816, and later at Chamberlains, specialising in "fabulous" or "fancy " birds in the old Worcester style. He was known as "Doctor" Davis, probably as a mark of respect.

 Fully marked in red script under: Flight Barr & Barr Royal Porcelain Works Worcester. London House 1 Coventry Street. Impressed crownmark & FBB.
