AN EXCELLENT 18TH CENTURY OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE SILVER SALVER, CIRCA 1790. A truly excellent example in fine original condition. Of circular shape with a beaded border and raised on four swept leaf feet, and with a central engraved armorial create & motto: Cognosce Teipsum Et Disce Pati: Know thyself and Learn to suffer. Family: Rawlings, of Saunders Hill, Cornwall. An arm in armour embowed, the elbow resting on the wreath, holding in the gauntlet a falchion. Diameter: 16 inches.
