Description:

A CHAMBERLAIN WORCESTER DESSERT DISH FROM THE ABERGAVENNY DESSERT SERVICE CIRCA 1813-14 Of heart shape, richly decorated in Japan colours and gold. Pattern number 298 of circular panels of stylised flowers and leaves reserved on a blue border with classical gilt designs; the centre with the crest and motto of Lord Nevill within a gilt-edged heart shaped cartouche. “Ne Vile Velis” (Do not wish anything base”). Puce script mark. This formed part of the tea & dessert service of the Lord Nevill placed with the Chamberlain factory in June 1813 and invoiced on July 28th 1814.In fact, this is perhaps the most important and extensive commission that the Chamberlain factory ever created  The original invoice exists in the Museum of Royal Worcester.
