A SUPERB REGENCY PERIOD OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE SILVER VENISON DISH & COVER WITH A LARGE MEAT DISH & COVER ENSUITE.
The large venison dish with gadroon & shell border and resting on a two scroll handled warming dish for hot water & raised on four shell & scroll feet. The domed cover above with a large foliate scroll handle. The meat dish & cover is slightly smaller yet still of large proportions and has corresponding decoration.
Each piece is engraved with an armorial & motto, bearing the arms of Campbell of Lochnell. This is probablyLt. General Duncan Campbell b.1763 d.1837, 8th Campbell of Lochnell and 2nd of Barbreck Argyll.
