Description: A First Period Old Sheffield Plate swing handled sugar basket (or basin), the body and foot raised with chased & embossed acanthus leaf; beaded border with the swing handle bearing the same beaded decoration, and with a glass liner. An identical basket is illustrated in "Sheffield Plate" by H.N. Veitech plate XIX. George III circa 1785.
