Description:
A RARE ENGLISH PORCELAIN SUCRIER & COVER. Bearing the Ducal coronet and script initials AS for Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex, circa 1810.
He was the sixth son of George III and his consort Queen Charlotte. Of oval lidded form decorated with gilt anthemion on a deep blue ground. The Duke of Sussex's coronet & initials appear on both sides and cover, surounded by the Order of the Garter & motto.
The title of the first Duke of Sussex was first created on 24th November 1801, and was held until his eath in 1843. The second creation in 2018, the Dukedom of Sussex was recreated and granted to Prince Harry to mark the occassion of his wedding to Meghan Markle, who therby became the first Duchess of Sussex.
