A REGENCY PERIOD  ROSEWOOD & BRASS INLAID READING/ WRITING/ GAMES WORK TABLE. CIRCA 1815.

The rising leathered top sliding to reveal a backgammon recess, flanked by hinged scalloped edged compartments, over a sliding chess board and work box. Raised on twin end lyre supports with swept legs terminating in gilded foliate caps & castors. A very adaptable table either for its intended use or simply as an extremely useful movable freestanding occasional table.
