A FINE PAIR OF GEORGE III SATINWOOD CUTLERY URNS, CIRCA 1790.

In the neoclassical taste of urn form with carved acorn finials on domed covers finely carved with a band of acanthus leaves and carved half fluting over a band of veneered fluting, and over the tapering urn bodies segmented and ebony strung with corresponding carving detail and raised on a square base with

veneered fluted sides. The covers lifting on a central rod to a concentric stepped interior of apertures for cutlery. Height: 24in.

Provenance: Formerly The property of the Late John Fane, of Wormsley Park Oxfordshire

Note. Wormsley Park had been in the Fane family for over 250 years. John Fane was a respected English gentleman, race horse breeder of note (owned Sky Diver who won the Goodwood Gold Cup 2 years in succession.) He was also an avid antique collector and a popular figure amongst the London & regional antiques trade with a particular interest in English furniture and barometers.
