AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY DERBY PORCELAIN TWO HANDLED CAMPANA VASE, CIRCA 1815.
Of impressive size, the vase is of classical campana form raised on a square plinth base, with upswept gilt stem-and-leaf handles. The front is decorated with a full-colour painted panel of waterfowl on a lake with bulrushes, reserved against a deep cobalt blue ground. The surface is richly embellished with highly ornate gilding and profuse neoclassical ornament, including anthemion, cornucopia, foliage, flowers, and classical urns. The square plinth base is further enriched with a gilt Greek Key pattern. Marked beneath in red with crown, D, crossed batons, and dots. Height: 13in Diam rim: 8.75in
