A RARE OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE SILVER TEA URN, GEORGE III,CIRCA 1765. Probably by Tudor & Co.
A superb example of an early tea urn, Rococo in design superbly decorated with chased & repousse flower stems & garlands, fluting & cartouche. The two handle ovoid body supported on a shaped & pierced square base resting on four foliate feet. The body is designed to twist and lift off the base via a bayonet fitting, to reveal a heater compartment designed to contain hot charcoal.
