WORCESTER PORCELAIN TRAY. POSSIBLY GRAINGERS. CIRCA 1830

Description:

A FINE ENGLISH PORCELAIN TRAY, PROBABLY GRAINGERS, CIRCA 1830. Possibly decorated from the workshop of Doe & Rogers

Painted with a named scene “Hardwick, the Seat of The Right Hon Lord Hill” Hardwick set within its grounds with figures in the foreground including a shepherd & his flock. The raised and pierced gallery with gilded anthemion & flowerhead decoration.

The Right Hon Rowland Lord Hill, Baron of Almarez in Spain, and of Hawkstone and Hardwicke Grange Shropshire; Commander in Chief of the British Army; a General in the Army; Governor of Plymouth; and Colonel of the Horse Guards Blues. Born at Prees Hall nr Hawkstone April 1772, Lord Hill fought alongside the Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo. A column was erected in his honour. He died at Hardwick Grange, nyr Shrewsbury Dec 1842
