Description:
BARR FLIGHT & BARR WORCESTER
PORCELAIN DESSERT PLATE, CIRCA 1804-13
A finely decorated dessert plate, the centre painted in monochrome with a heraldic crest, enclosed within a gilt-edged roundel. Encircling the central reserve is a wide orange-ground band, richly embellished with continuous neoclassical gilding, executed with precision and fluency. The vibrant ground colour provides a striking contrast to the burnished gilt ornament, while the rim is finished with a neat gilt edge, completing the design with understated elegance.
The underside bears full factory marks, including references to the manufactory’s prestigious association with “Their Majesties and the Royal Family,” reflecting the high status and patronage enjoyed by Barr, Flight & Barr during this period.
