Description:
A PAIR OF SPODE POT-POURRI VASES AND COVERS CIRCA 1820-25. Of flaring trumpet shape, embossed with three bands of white pearls, raised on three gilded paw feet. The pierced covers with flame finials, decorated with pattern 1166 of painted flowers on a deep blue ground with gilded scales and gilded mons.
Provenance: Purchased in 1934 for £14. One vase is illustrated by Vega Wilkinson, The Copeland China Collection 1989 Trelissick, House Cornwall, p. 15, No S43 and also in Spode Copeland Spode (2002) p. 42, col. Pl. 14.
