Description: A George III Old Sheffield Plate Silver Tea Urn & Cover, circa 1765. Probably by Henry Tudor & Co. The ovoid body on a square base, with ivory handles and a pineapple knop, chased and repousse rococo decoration. A fluted but otherwise identical example is at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation & illustrated in Crosskey page 268, fig 288. The body twists off to reveal a heater compartment designed to contain hot charcoal. (this method of heating was retained to the 1770s, later ones had vertical tubes to hold a hot iron bar)
