Early 19th Century Regency Period Rosewood & Gilt Brass Circular Revolving Bookcase. Circa 1805.
The rosewood top fitted with a pierced brass gallery above three graduated circular bookshelves with faux leather book dividers and book compartments lined with marbled paper. The top two tiers revolve independently and move in either direction, whilst the bottom tier is fixed. Each section is fitted with a gilt brass moulding. Above a gilded simulated rosewood fluted pedestal, spreading to a circular stepped foot, raised on a rosewood triform base fitted with a gilt brass moulding and above gilded scrolled feet and concealed brass castors, providing both decorative charm and structural stability. The combination of rich wood, gilded accents, and practical design makes this a perfect centrepiece for a refined library or study.
