A FLIGHT BARR & BARR WORCESTER DESSERT DISH
Circa 1813–1819. Of elegant oval scalloped form, the rim crisply moulded with a gadrooned border and richly heightened in burnished gilding, the well superbly decorated in polychrome enamels with a heraldic crest surmounted by a scrolling banner and inscribed with the motto “Pro Vide Reg et Lege” (“For King, law and the people”), and enclosed by a broad pale salmon ground border, finely embellished with trailing gilt strawberry vines, the gilding of notably high quality and typical of the refined output of the factory during this period. Impressed factory mark to the underside. 12inx9in
